Black Copper Marans are a beautiful large laying breed that produces a dark brown to chocolate colored egg. They are the darkest of the egg layers. They are a calm breed with striking features, to include copper accents and feathered feet. They can be considered dual purpose due to their large size. Our line includes both primarily black varieties, but we do keep a little bit of blue just for some fun variety in the flock. We are seeing about 90% black and 10% blue on our hatches. Our line has been heavily culled and selectively chosen for SOP features on the birds. Egg color is a secondary focus for us, although going forward, we will be focusing more on it since we have done well to produce an SOP correct Marans bird.
